Love Is Not Tourism tells the story of a woman living in Germany who was separated from her partner in 2020 due to border closures imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. Both are migrants: she lives in Berlin, while he is stranded across the ocean, suffering from a travel ban that separates them.

Over the course of the play, the protagonist begins a tireless fight to reunite with him in Germany, supported by the virtual social movement Love Is Not Tourism, a global community of binational couples seeking ways to reconnect despite the restrictions. Resolutely, she navigates the hurdles of German bureaucracy while grappling with her own ideas about love.

The play questions the concept of romantic love as a product of a patriarchal society and invites reflection on new forms of relationships. What can we learn from love—and what can we also unlearn?

This play premiered in German in 2023 and is now celebrating its premiere in Spanish.
