What do writers actually dream about? The ‘Traumschiff’ reading series explores this question – quite literally.

Three authors read from their personal dream diaries or from dreams that have been turned into text, offering insights into the most intimate depths and messages of their own – and the collective – subconscious.

Concept and organisation: Maik Gerecke.

Sofie Lichtenstein studied linguistics, gender studies, German as a second language and interdisciplinary research into antisemitism. Her debut novel, "Bügeln. Protokolle über geschlechtliche Handlungen", was published in 2023. Her second novel is to be published soon.

Slavica Klimkowsky, born in Croatia, lives, dreams and works as a freelance writer, literary educator and lecturer in creative writing in Berlin. The recipient of numerous awards for both her literature in plain language and her short prose and poetry, her writing explores the complexity of human characters and life journeys. Slavica Klimkowsky enjoys collaborating with international colleagues on projects that bring together different languages and cultures.

Alexander Graeff is a writer, philosopher and literary educator. He writes poetry, prose and biographical-philosophical essays – and enjoys blending genres. He is head of the literature programme at the Brotfabrik arts and culture centre in Berlin and the initiator of the reading series “Schreiben gegen die Norm(en)?”. Through the Queer Media Society, he advocates for greater visibility of queer people and subject matter within the German-speaking literary scene. He lives in Berlin.

His most recent publications include the poetry collection “Deine Revolution für Ungenauigkeit hat Zukunftswert” (2025) and the essay “Das Spektrum erweitern” (2025).

Maik Gerecke (host) is not only an author, columnist and a rather clichéd jazz musician; he also loves dreaming in all its forms, which is why he created and organised the reading series “Das Traumschiff” in 2026. Last year, he even completed a novel about dreams and how they can connect people.
