Doctor's Orders Anniversary Tour
Doctor's Orders was the first album by the band's current line-up, back then, 40 years ago, with founding member Lee Brilleaux still on vocals. The cult band Dr. Feelgood is and remains a phenomenon.
Anyone who experiences the band at a concert today inevitably comes into contact with the raw, uncompromising live energy that made them one of the world's best-known and most exciting live bands of the emerging British pub rock scene in the 1970s. Classic Rock magazine calls their style, developed at that time, ‘razor-sharp chunks of R'n'B’, combining the soul of black music, especially the blues, with the snotty attitude of the emerging punk movement.
Founded in 1970 on Canvey Island, Essex, Dr. Feelgood reached fans of all stripes with their album ‘Stupidity’ after their No. 1 success in the U.K. charts. Further successes with single releases followed with songs such as Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors. Their version of See You Later Alligator even achieved gold status!
With Kevin Morris on drums, Phil Mitchell on bass and Gordon Russell on guitar, the musicians from the last line-up around original singer Lee Brilleaux have been on stage since 1983. He died in 1994 and has been replaced by Robert Kane (formerly of The Animals) since 1999.
Even though Dr. Feelgood continues to release albums, most recently Live in Caen (2024) and Damn Right! (2022), their captivating live show remains their unmistakable trademark! You can still feel the energy with which the band once tore apart music clubs around the world.
