Dive into You

In “Dive into You”, the choreographer and performer links the symbolic figure of the female oracle with the processes of photosynthesis and the growth of trees. Válastur draws parallels between female oracles, who act as gateways to the divine whilst in a trance, and trees, which produce energy and oxygen through photosynthesis. By translating this analogy into the theatre space, she creates a captivating solo – in which dynamic elements such as oscillations, spirals and circles come to the fore.

Inspired by the deep, resonant sounds of the wooden percussion instrument known as the Semantron, a percussive choreography unfolds, underpinned by a composition by the musician Aho Ssan and Válastur’s vocals. The work emerges as an oracle that seeks to connect people with their most secret and tender selves.
