by Werner Schwab

Erna has bought a used television. That has to be celebrated! Grete and Mariedl are there too. What sounds like a nice party between friends quickly turns out to be an unrestrained venting of the three "presidents' frustrations with life".

In monologue-like speeches, the women attack each other with lust and build a world for themselves that no longer has anything to do with reality. The three of them take their fantasies to new heights - until one of them suddenly crosses a line that comes dangerously close to reality.

In 1990, the Austrian author Werner Schwab premiered "The Presidents", a play that has not lost its disturbing character to this day. With this so-called "fecal drama", Schwab gives us a glimpse deep into the depths of the "little people" and continues to captivate us with his energetic and poetic language.

The Werktheater Tempelhof is the in-house production facility of the Fritz Kirchhoff School "der Kreis", the oldest private drama school in Berlin. Here, the respective final semester presents itself to a larger public for the first time with a piece specially developed for it.

This time the direction was taken by the actor, speaker and director Marcus Staiger. Traditionally, the assistant director is drawn from the ranks of the student body. The team began rehearsals in summer 2024.
