Special Guests: SUNAMI, ONE STEP CLOSER, GOD COMPLEX
There's a special kind of fear that arises when you feel that change is inevitable – and knowing it doesn't make it any easier. Counterparts wanted to capture precisely this feeling on their seventh album, A Eulogy For Those Still Here: that moment of in-between, just before everything tips over. In doing so, they push their sound to the limits of what has been achieved so far and deliver their most powerful statement as a band to date.
Since their formation in 2007, Counterparts – featuring Brendan Murphy, Alex Re, Jesse Doreen, Tyler Williams, and Kyle Brownlee – have played their way from the Canadian underground to the world's biggest stages. But with over 15 years of band history behind them, the fear that this chapter might one day come to an end is growing.
The new album feels like the essence of their sound – eleven songs, gripping, profound, and brutally honest. In tracks like "Flesh To Fill Your Wounds" and "Bound To Burn," Murphy explores fading love and the inner conflict of artistic self-realization. Especially in “Sworn To Silence” and the dark title track, Murphy’s lyrical clarity – and his fear of what is to come – is evident.
