Reading with music

This reading from the book "Cold Crematorium: A Report from the Land Called Auschwitz" by the Hungarian-Jewish journalist and author József Debreczeni recalls the gruesome daily life in a concentration camp.

First published in Hungarian in 1950, more than 70 years later, this poignant book is now available in English and German translations for a wider audience. "A haunting account of the nightmarish world of the extermination camps, written immediately after its liberation." (The Times).

Between the readings, music by Jewish composers, including Gideon Klein (1919-1945), composed in Terezín, will be played. This music will be performed by the strings of the "Franz Trio" from Berlin and on the organ by KMD Beate Kruppke.
