Pitcher shapes through the ages

Over 100 jugs from the museum's collection and several loans exemplify the development of jug design and decoration in 20th-century Germany. The exhibition features jugs from porcelain and stoneware manufacturers as well as individual pieces by prominent ceramic artists.

From Bunzlau/Silesia, through Velten, Berlin, and Halle, all the way to Saargemünd in the far west of Germany, you will encounter renowned artists such as Richard Riemerschmid, Jan Bontjes van Beek, Otto Lindig, Margarete Heymann-Loebestein, Marguerite Friedlaender, Hubert Griemert, Eva Stricker-Zeisel, and Hedwig Bollhagen, as well as lesser-known creators of interesting and sometimes whimsical jug designs.
