Lectures, Collection Tour, Art-led Workshop
These are the questions addressed by Co-MammalHub, an international series of events that invites participants to engage in discussion and creative exploration of endangered mammals through lectures, insights into museum collections and artist-led workshops. Following stops in Pretoria and Nairobi, the project is now coming to Berlin.
The programme will feature contributions from workshop participants from South Africa and Kenya, who have focused in particular on topics such as wildlife conservation and poaching.
At the Co-MammalHub at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, the focus is on the history of research and acquisition relating to rhinoceros and pangolin specimens, as well as the museum’s approach to its colonial past.
An evening event (in German and English, without translation) in three parts:
Opening with introductory talks in the event hall
Discussion and tour of the newly redesigned Mammal Skulls Research Collection gallery
Discussion and project presentation in the taxidermy exhibition. In parallel, an artistic workshop with Nicola Grobler will take place in the education rooms.
Places are limited; separate registration is required; language: English
Contributions from the workshop will be incorporated into the redesign of the mammal exhibition at the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History in Pretoria.
