Clément Janinet is among the most promising French violinists and composers. While rooted in jazz, he maintains a high degree of freedom in his playing and style. His music blends repetitive structures with European and African traditions.

With his new project, Garden of Silences, he builds upon earlier works such as Ornette Under the Repetitive Skies and brings together musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds: Arve Henriksen (trumpet, Norway), Ambre Villermoz (accordion, France), and Robert Lucaciu (double bass, Germany). Together, they explore the intersections between free improvisation, Baroque music, folk music, and the repetitive music of the 20th century.

Inspired by Dave Douglas’ Charms Of The Night Sky, the quartet transcends boundaries of repertoire and style: Monteverdi, Buxtehude and Dowland meet nyckelharpa, powerful improvisation merges with microtonal music, and contemporary chamber music combines with folk dances and traditional songs.
