"Call by name" is a memorial event for people who have died while fleeing their homes. The focus is on publicly remembering their names and the circumstances of their deaths. The event draws attention to the consequences of war, displacement, persecution, and dangerous escape routes, and combines remembrance with a discussion about flight, asylum, and responsibility in Europe.

The event takes place at the Passionskirche on Marheinekeplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Over the course of 24 hours, the names of the deceased will be read aloud in half-hour intervals.

The event will be accompanied by music, spoken word contributions, and moments of silence. Additionally, visitors can write the names and events on strips of fabric, which will then be hung inside and outside the church.

The event is intended as a public gesture of remembrance and solidarity with those seeking protection.
