Friedrich Teja Bach is a German art historian who ranks among the leading voices in research on 19th- and 20th-century art. He studied art history and philosophy, as well as history, German studies, and political science. From 1994 to 2013, he held a chair at the Institute of Art History at the University of Vienna. Visiting professorships took him to Princeton University and Harvard University.
He is the author of the catalog raisonné of Constantin Brancusi’s sculptures. His other research focuses include the art of the Dürer era, modern and contemporary art, as well as Islam and modernity.
Admission to all events in the accompanying program is free of charge, as long as space permits.
The program of events is sponsored by the Romanian Cultural Institute, represented by its Berlin branch, the Romanian Cultural Institute “Titu Maiorescu” Berlin.
The events take place as part of the special exhibition Brancusi at the Neue Nationalgalerie, Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. It is a collaboration with the Centre Pompidou, made possible by the Friends of the Nationalgalerie.
