Discussion series in the Red Salon with Fabian Bernhardt and guests
Ghosts and demons know no boundaries – in the realm of the supernatural, globalization has long been a reality. Particularly fascinating are the yōkai, creatures from Japanese and Chinese mythology: sometimes cute, sometimes terrifying, fluid in form, and with special powers.
We constantly encounter them in manga, anime, video games, and films – from Spirited Away to the Soot Sprites. They demonstrate how permeable the dividing line between the natural and the supernatural can be.
Dr. Fabian Bernhardt, philosopher and author, researches questions of guilt, forgiveness, and violence and published the award-winning non-fiction book "Revenge" in 2021.
Penny Yiou Peng, theater scholar and performance artist, works under the name oxi pëng on sensual forms that dissolve boundaries between dreams, bodies, and sounds, and performs internationally.
