In the U19 DFB Youth League, Bundesliga and amateur clubs compete together in a single league from the start. The best teams, up to eleven from the second-highest divisions, qualify directly for the main round after the first half of the season.
Clubs without a performance center are rewarded for their success in the preliminary round and are given the opportunity to compete at a higher level. The goal is to better develop young players to increase creativity, enthusiasm, and performance.
For the 2025/2026 season, the DFB Cup for juniors in the U19 age group will be expanded to 64 teams, similar to the men's DFB Cup.
