Special tour on the occasion of the inauguration of Cetin-Mert-Platz

The border ran on the West Berlin bank between the Oberbaum Bridge and the Ostbahnhof, and the Spree belonged to East Berlin. At least 13 people died in this area. Among them were Cetin Mert and four other Kreuzberg children who fell into the river while playing and were not rescued.

On the occasion of the inauguration of Cetin-Mert-Platz in Friedrichshain, the Berlin Wall Foundation invites you to discover the historical traces of the border fortifications and get to know some of the works of art from the East Side Gallery.
