A dialogue between hip-hop and classical music
On 15 November 2025, an extraordinary event will take place at Rotes Rathaus: the first Berlin Hip Hop Ball. The ball originated in Vienna and has delighted around 1,500 guests every year since then.

The Viennese Sajeh Tavassoli, who has Iranian roots, developed the idea of combining Viennese ball tradition and hip-hop culture in a project concept back in 2015.
This year, the event is taking place in Berlin and offers a unique remix of urban culture and classical music. People who would otherwise not come into contact with each other meet here.
The governing mayor, Kai Wegner, will be the patron of the HipHop Ball Berlin.
The ball is also supported by strong partners such as the Flying Steps, the DDR Museum and LiveTeacherUs, the official charity partner.
The ‘Chain of Glory’ is an award that is presented exclusively to women who have made a lasting contribution to the German hip-hop world through their commitment and creativity. This special edition is dedicated to female artists from various areas of hip-hop culture, from music and dance to graffiti and poetry.
In addition to the award ceremony, visitors can look forward to a diverse programme, including live performances and DJ sets by over 50 artists, a specially curated graffiti exhibition on Berlin's history with numerous interactive elements. The creation of an urban waltz dance will be made possible by the Flying Steps and musicians from the Deutsche Sinfonietta Berlin.

- Gentlemen: Dinner jacket /suit /tailcoat with bow tie
- Sneakers compulsory for all!
- Absolute NO GO's: short dresses (knee-length is also short), jeans, tracksuit, tracksuit bottoms, ties, belly-baring, see-through fabric, high heels
