Artistic creation caught between escapism and loss of home, postmodern isolation and inspiring self-discovery.

Social networks today offer numerous opportunities for communication, but often lead to increasing isolation. Voluntary solitude in virtual communities can cause real relationships to wither away and intensify loneliness and the desire for genuine connections.

But is this withdrawal behaviour only a modern phenomenon, or has escapism always been a driving force in art? And what about the inner emigration of female artists in past times under social pressure?

In the 2nd group exhibition 2025, the multi-layered levels of meaning and controversial connotations implied by the pair of terms ‘loneliness / longing’ are artistically explored in the exciting juxtaposition of paintings, photographs and sculptures.
