"Star Club," "Rixi," and "Hühnerstall"—these were the names of the Neukölln beat clubs where the first rockers strummed their guitars and danced the night away. Between Kreuzberg and Neukölln, the wild heart of the new youth cultures beat, combining new sounds with new forms of protest.
From the New World to Kreuzkölln, we follow in the footsteps of rock legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Rio Reiser, local heroes such as Jacky Spelter and Kalle Kalkowski, and pop icons such as Nina Hagen and Christiane F.
