Jealousy – one of the seven deadly sins, yet hardly anyone is spared. For Baroque composers, it was a rewarding subject, full of drama and emotional depth. No opera of this period is complete without a gripping jealousy scene.
Philippe Jaroussky and his radiant countertenor delve into the depths of this emotion – in virtuoso arias by Antonio Vivaldi, Nicola Porpora, and Domenico and Alessandro Scarlatti. He is accompanied by the ensemble Artaserse, which he co-founded in 2002 and with which he has since realized numerous sensational projects.
