Over a period of three years, Frank Gaudlitz traveled to Moldova, Armenia, and Georgia, where he met people whose lives have been profoundly affected by the war in Ukraine. The result is around forty striking portraits, accompanied by personal interviews and quotations. Together, they offer a vivid account of the traces left by flight and displacement and highlight the very different paths individual lives can take.

In conversation with Franziska Schmidt, co-curator of the exhibition, the photographer provides insights into his work, the development of the project, and his encounters with the people portrayed. The discussion will also address the role of photography as a medium that makes personal experiences visible and fosters empathy. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about the background of the exhibition and to ask questions of the artist.
