From 13 September to 12 October 2025, the Weitlingkiez neighbourhood in Lichtenberg, near Lichtenberg station, will once again be transformed into a large art mile.
Around 30 shops and social institutions are making their shop windows and walls available to local artists. This will turn the neighbourhood itself into a gallery – accessible while running everyday errands or on a guided tour of the exhibition venues.
‘The art mile in the Weitling neighbourhood shows how creative and lively our district is. It makes art visible in everyday life and also brings neighbours into contact with each other. This interplay of community, culture and commitment is a win for the whole of Lichtenberg.’ (District Mayor Martin Schaefer).
Visitors can expect a diverse range of offerings: photography, painting, pottery, textile art, installations and poetry find an unusual platform in the Weitlingkiez.
The art mile is complemented by free guided tours, which start every Saturday at 11 a.m. at Münsterlandplatz on the corner of Weitlingstraße.
The grand opening will take place on Saturday, 13 September at 5 p.m. in the community hall of the Weit.Blick family and neighbourhood centre at Archenholdstraße 25.
The event will conclude with a closing ceremony on Sunday, 12 October, starting at 2 p.m. at the AWO-Margaretentreff (Zacherstraße 52) – both events will feature a small musical and creative programme.
The art mile has been organised on a voluntary basis by art lovers and creative minds for over ten years and is realised with the support of the Lichtenberg Mitte district coordination office.
