Friday night is when the holiday within the holiday begins: Shabbat - the day of rest - takes place weekly from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. During this time, people come together to honor rest, reflection and community.
On the third day of Sukkot: hosting the hosts, artist Jen Rosenblit invites you to the Sukkah in the Sophiensæle Festsaal. Over wine and snacks, audience and hosts congregate and engage in a performative ritual based on the tradition of the Kiddush – a Friday night procedure welcoming the Shabbat and marking the transition and tensions between the holy and the mundane.
