Talk

Many areas of Berlin’s cultural life are currently under increasing pressure. The cultural policy decisions made during the upcoming legislative term will therefore help determine the role that art and culture will play in this city in the future.

This discussion is intended as a public forum for a fundamental debate on cultural policy. The leading candidates have been invited because cultural policy is not merely a matter for individual departments, but touches on political responsibility for the city as a whole.

The focus is on the future of Berlin’s cultural landscape, prospects for the independent scene and institutions, and fair working conditions for artists.

The event will be streamed live.

Opening Remarks:

Manos Tsangaris, President of the Academy of Arts

Panelists:

Elif Eralp, The Left

Werner Graf, Alliance 90/The Greens

Steffen Krach, SPD

T.B.A., CDU

Moderator:

Anne Schneider, Berlin Council for the Arts

In the run-up to the Berlin House of Representatives election in September 2026, the Council for the Arts and the Academy of Arts are inviting the leading candidates of the democratic parties to a public discussion on cultural policy.
