For 19 years, the ada Studio has shaped Berlin's dance scene: 1,345 artists have created 497 performance evenings here to date. Without them – who support, drive, question, and celebrate the studio – its continuous work would not be possible.

At the same time, after almost two decades, the question is growing louder as to what has become of many of those artists who presented their first works at the ada Studio and ventured out into the world with high hopes.

The label "young choreographer" says little about content, but a lot about marketing strategies and social conditions. Those who don't remain permanently visible disappear – and this leads to numerous talents being unable to make the transition from emerging to mid-career or established. This disappearance represents a significant loss, as it reveals a lack of appreciation and interest in the twists and turns of artistic careers.

For ada19, the studio has therefore invited five dance artists whose work and inspiration have contributed significantly to its further development: Rike Flämig, Raisa Kröger, Lee Méir, Maria Walser, and Akiles. They represent many others who ventured into professional choreography at the ada Studio—some whose traces have been lost, and others who continue to be present in a variety of ways.
