Acting Small the Way We Wish for the Big – Phase: Encounter

The Acker Stadt Palast is undergoing change. It wants to connect more closely with the artists who work here – not only during performances, but also during daily rehearsals and beyond. Around 13 groups have been invited to be part of the theater. They use the spaces regularly and have the opportunity to interact with one another.

The Acker Potluck is one of these opportunities for artists, staff, neighbors, guests, and audiences – and even tourists who are currently exploring Berlin – to come together.

The starting point for this reorientation was the artistic director's realization: Although she desires a world in which they act sustainably and in solidarity, everyday theater life has recently often been characterized by excessive demands and fragmentation – like a machine that offers too many groups and too little space for genuine encounters.

Perhaps many feel the same way: They desire change, but don't consistently live it out in their daily lives. They want to change this together – and encourage others through good examples.

The Acker Potluck is a moment of togetherness. They consider encounters to be deeply valuable—not only as a social experience, but also as fertile ground for artistic processes, shared ideas, and open conversations about the world. It's also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Acker Stadt Palast, the artists in residence, and the program.

And because the pleasant can be wonderfully combined with the useful, they invite everyone to a shared meal: Everyone brings something—and everyone enjoys the time together.
