Meike Zopf, who grew up in Berlin-Lichterfelde and is now internationally renowned, will be exhibiting some of her current works at St. Peter's Church in September.
"Abracadabra" is a series of paintings that play with visual magic and explore the boundaries between illusion and reality. "The works transport viewers to a multifaceted world where the hidden becomes visible and the everyday becomes miraculous," the artist describes her paintings.
Meike Zopf is also showing a black-and-white series called "Archive.Fragments.", based on photographic source material. The series is a painterly exploration of this photo archive as a repository of collective and individual memory.
"I'm interested in the spaces between representation and identity, between intimacy and anonymity." (Meike Zopf)
