The band Engerling is celebrating half a century on stage – and has helped write rock history during that time. Founded in 1975, they shaped the music scene in the GDR, mastered the period of reunification and its aftermath, and finally embarked on endless tours that took them far beyond Germany's borders – to the former Soviet Union (now Russia) and the USA.
Their long-standing collaboration with Detroit blues dervish Mitch Ryder was particularly influential. They performed at the legendary Rockpalast and cultivated a close relationship with the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg district.
Now they are returning to exactly that place:
On Sunday, 18 October, Engerling will celebrate their big anniversary concert ‘50 Years of Engerling’ in the Kesselhaus at the Kulturbrauerei.
Line-up:
Wolfram Bodag (ld, key, voc, harm), Heiner Witte (git), Manne Pokrandt (bg), Hannes Schulze (dr)
