VIVA EL AXOLOTL - FOREVER YOUNG!

On Pentecost Saturday, May 23, 2026, the 30th Berlin Children’s Carnival of Cultures will be celebrated under the motto: “VIVA EL AXOLOTL – FOREVER YOUNG!” The parade begins at 12:00 p.m. with a rally at Mariannenplatz.

The parade will draw attention, together with the children, to the plight of the axolotl, as well as to the underfunding and cuts to open-access children’s and youth programs, youth culture, political education, and school social work, and to the lack of spaces for children and young people in the growing city.

The colorful demonstration is intended above all to give children and young people the opportunity to take the microphone and express their wishes and demands.

Jury at Rio Reiser Platz: A jury, including Youth City Councilor Max Kindler, will be stationed at Rio Reiser Platz to select the best costumes, the most impressive parade floats, and the best performance.

At 2 p.m., Senator Cansel Kiziltepe and District Mayor Clara Herrmann will open the big non-profit festival in Görlitzer Park.

At the festival, visitors can look forward to a wide range of free games and, of course, fantastic dance and music performances, by children for children.

It always makes the children very proud to see their pictures and interviews. It also fosters an understanding of democracy; especially in today’s world, it is important that children feel heard and seen.
