11mm 2026 puts football feature films in the spotlight

The 21st edition of the 11mm International Football Film Festival, the world's first and largest festival of its kind, will take place from 26 to 30 March 2026 and will focus on a special theme: football in feature films.

In addition to current national and international productions, the festival will focus on a genre that has long been underestimated.

However, film history impressively demonstrates that football can be portrayed in feature films in a powerful, multi-layered and narratively compelling way.

The 11mm Festival now showcases this diversity and, in its lovingly compiled programme, presents not only current fictional productions but also some classics from the history of football films, including ‘Shaolin Kickers’ (Hong Kong, 2001) and ‘Just Charlie’ (dir. Rebekah Fortune, UK 2017).

The festival shows feature films, documentaries and short films on the theme of football. The most outstanding productions will be awarded several prizes: the 11MM Jury Prize for ‘Football Film of the Year’, the ‘Golden 11’ Audience Award for the most popular film of the festival, and the 11MM shortkicks Prize for ‘Best Football Short Film of the Year’.

All submitted films are in German or English or have German or English subtitles.

About 11mm

11mm was founded in Berlin in 2004 by Brot & Spiele e.V. as the world's first football film festival. After guest appearances abroad, a European Championship tour through 24 cities in Germany and its 20th anniversary last year, the film festival is now once again presenting current highlights and works from the history of football films in Berlin.
