Experiments" brings together a sequence of 100 works, each of which is
both a source of inspiration and a product of interpretation.
All works are
derived from a single initial event: in 2017, Anna Butele handed over Theo
Van Doesburg's painting "The Rhythm of a Russian Dance" (1918) to
an architect. His interpretation was then passed on to subsequent architects
in order to act as a source of inspiration and impetus for their contributions.
Inspiration is a driving force in creative design processes. In architecture she gives important impulses for the development of design ideas in an unexpected and unpredictable way. The exhibition, initiated by the Latvian designer Anna Butele from the Annvil office in Riga, focuses on the principle of inspiration and shows 100 works created as part of a collaborative experimental project. Drawings, graphics, photographs and models by renowned architects from 28 countries form a network of impulses in which each contribution refers to a previous work. In addition to an extensive installation, the exhibition conveys the personal experiences of the architects and brings the function of inspiration, which is essential for the creative work process, closer to the audience.
