When are the Christmas markets in Berlin taking place?

At present many Weihnachtsmärkte work on new hygiene concepts, in order to be able to start in the Adventszeit despite everything. Altogether there are already more than 50 markets which do everything to conjure up an atmospheric Vorweihnachtzseit on Berlin places and roads with new safety rules and expirations.

Usually you can visit over 70 of them here. They range from indoor and covered to those outdoors, ones especially for children with rides and fun fairs, to markets with historical themes. We’re sure you’ll find your favourite market! Visit one of the many different Christmas markets in Berlin and enjoy a contemplative time with the whole family. In Berlin you will find nostalgic Christmas markets as well as modern ones with carousels and attractions.

The largest is the Christmas market in Spandau's old town, which this year takes place at the Zitadelle Spandau due to corona. The historical Gendarmenmarkt Christmas market is very famous and one of the most beautiful, offering stands with glassblowers, winter delicacies and origami art during Advent. A small tent city with numerous exhibitors and stands as well as more than 1,000 fairy lights provides a cosy ambience.

The nostalgic Christmas market at the Opernpalais has an impressive array of artisans from all over the world, amusement rides and traditional culinary delights such as roasted almonds. At the Domäne Dahlem Advent market, a former manor, you will find smiths, potters and musical instrument makers as well as a weaving mill.

You will find Christmas markets in every district and neighbourhood of Berlin – be it Alexanderplatz, Charlottenburg, Spandau or many other places.

Our list provides all information about opening hours and admission to the Christmas markets. Most Advent markets start at the end of November, some even go as far as mid-January.
