Book Launch and Panel
The volume examines the technical, medial, and aesthetic relationships between photography and (forced) migration from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The authors draw on the concept of “nomadism”—which denotes a temporary form of existence—to explore photography as a transcultural practice beyond national borders.
The book understands photography as an integral part of this history of mobility and migration and examines the interplay between the concepts of the “nomadic” and the “camera,” thereby opening up new perspectives on photography as a medium in motion.
Participants: Burcu Dogramaci and Winfried Gerling (editors) as well as Svea Braeunert, Anna Sophia Messner, and Fabienne Liptay (authors)
