Weberwiese Neighborhood Festival 2026

This year, too, we will take a firm stand against the sellout and the creeping erosion of the neighborhood, driven by the gentrification machine and purely profit-driven real estate players.

The neighborhood is not an object of speculation—it thrives on the people who live here and make their living here.

All neighbors and residents are warmly invited to come together for a day of community exchange and neighborhood culture!

Developments in the Weberwiese neighborhood protection zone—furnished temporary housing, misuse of vacant properties, and the gradual sale of apartments—are increasingly threatening established structures and displacing long-time residents. This festival sends a message against the loss of community and in support of neighborhood cohesion, while also drawing attention to scenarios that threaten people’s livelihoods, such as evictions for owner-occupancy.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the complex, a neighborhood tour on the history of Weberwiese—initiated by historian Wanja Abramowski (Friedrichshain Historical Society Hans Hohlhase e.V.)—awaits you, as well as a photo exhibition documenting the transformation of the buildings.
