Live online course with starter kit for beginners
Cultivating your own edible mushrooms gives you direct access to an extraordinary organism and opens up a sustainable form of food production. Learning how to propagate mycelium and prepare substrates yourself allows you to grow mushrooms independently in the long term—whether in your basement, on your balcony, in your garden, or in your living room. The course is designed for beginners and includes a starter kit. Those who learn how to propagate mycelium and prepare substrates themselves can grow mushrooms independently in the long term—whether in the basement, on the balcony, in the garden, or in living spaces. Compared to ready-made cultivation boxes, this method not only offers greater flexibility but also significant cost advantages. This two-hour live online course provides the basic knowledge for successful mushroom cultivation in a private setting. It is specifically aimed at people with no previous experience or only basic knowledge of mushroom cultivation.
This two-hour live online course teaches the basic knowledge for successful mushroom cultivation in a private setting. It is specifically aimed at people with no previous experience or only basic knowledge. The aim is to provide a solid understanding of the biological processes involved and, at the same time, to learn a practical method that can be continued independently.
Before the course begins, participants will receive a comprehensive starter pack by mail. This contains all the materials needed to immediately put the course content into practice, including various forms of mycelium, prepared grain spawn, initial substrate, and an illustrated manual. Just a few weeks after the course, participants will be able to harvest their first oyster mushrooms.
The theoretical part teaches the biological basics of mushrooms as a separate group of organisms. Topics covered include sterile working methods, substrate composition, nutritional strategies of mushrooms, and environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light. In addition, typical contaminations are discussed and explained how problematic molds can be detected at an early stage. In addition, typical contaminations are discussed and explained how problematic molds can be detected at an early stage. In addition, sustainable alternatives to commercial cultivation systems are presented, as well as other cultivation options, such as on wood or in containers. In the practical section, the course instructor, a biotechnologist specializing in mycology, demonstrates a proven cultivation method step by step.
In the practical section, the course instructor, a biotechnologist specializing in mycology, demonstrates a proven cultivation method step by step. The inoculation of sterile grain spawn, the propagation of mycelium, and the transfer to new substrate are demonstrated. The inoculation of sterile grain spawn, the further propagation of mycelium, and the transfer to new substrate are demonstrated. Participants learn to correctly assess growth stages and decide when a substrate is completely overgrown or needs to be replaced. Two months after the course, there is an optional, free online follow-up session. Here, individual results are discussed, yields are evaluated, and specific tips for optimizing one's own cultivation conditions are provided.
