A fairy-tale theatre show for adults only!
At the Pfefferberg Theatre, the production Pink Grimm: The Sleeping Beauties presents a contemporary reinterpretation of Grimm's fairy tales aimed at an adult audience.
Directed by Matthias Mosbach, actors Andreas Köhler (Andi Buletten) and Roger Jahnke (Rottscha) offer a queer interpretation of the classics and deliberately break with traditional narrative patterns.
The focus shifts from the virtuous protagonists to the antagonists and complex peripheral characters, offering a satirical examination of traditional moral concepts and gender roles.
Combining elements of classical spoken theatre with the aesthetics of travesty and pop culture, the production offers a critical examination of social norms. By reinterpreting familiar motifs, from 'Hansel and Gretel' to 'Sleeping Beauty', the play addresses issues of identity and acceptance, revealing the hidden, ambiguous layers of the original folk tales.
This approach enables a change of perspective that redefines the cultural relevance of fairy tale material in a modern, diverse context.
