Punk must return to the Volksbühne, and workers' struggles must return to a workers' theater. In recent years, numerous subculture venues in Berlin's Mitte district have disappeared. With this concert series, they want to counteract this and simultaneously establish something new.
At its core, they are ten Volksbühne workers who, supported by many colleagues, have been organizing punk concerts every eight weeks in the Roter Salon since 2019.
Their principle: Each concert commemorates a labor struggle. These struggles—both past and present—are global in scope. Many labor struggles have been forgotten. They want to remember the stories, the anger, and the courage of our colleagues. Above all, they want to tell these stories in the first place.
