Golden Gate

Small club - big fun.

Clubbers dance to the sounds of Berlin's electro beat spun by local DJs in the trashy underground atmosphere of this small club on Jannowitzbrücke. Sweat is already dripping from the ceiling, and the atmosphere is familiar and relaxed. Anyone who just wants a good time is welcome here. The prices are reasonable, with good service to boot. The club’s garden is the perfect retreat if you want to catch a breath of fresh air.

Located between the railway bridge and the Spree River, Golden Gate has been synonymous with uncompromising club culture for over twenty years. Party non-stop in the heart of Berlin!

No glamour, no standstill: since 2002, the Golden Gate has been Berlin's long-running favourite for after-hours, minimal sound and authentic club nights.

Just a few minutes' walk from Jannowitzbrücke station, the Golden Gate is stylishly tucked away in a bridge pier of the Berlin city railway. Since 2002, one of the city's most unpretentious underground clubs has been welcoming partygoers to Berlin's nightlife. The special combination of relaxed door policy, selected DJs and down-and-out Berlin charm makes the club a favourite address for the international techno scene.

Party until the sun rises and sets again

Long nights are not uncommon in Berlin's nightlife. But the Golden Gate has earned itself a very special reputation in this regard, even alongside Berghain and Co. The club opens around midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – but sometimes it's simply open from Thursday to Monday evening. For Berlin clubbers, however, the Golden Gate is not only popular for its after-hours parties . Since the early 2000s, renowned Berlin DJs and international guests have been creating an exuberant party atmosphere here.

Over twenty years of club history

The Golden Gate was founded in 2002 and is one of the established addresses on the Berlin club scene. The operators Hubertus von Strachwitz and Reimund Spitzer originally founded the club as a stage for a mixed music programme – from rock 'n' roll and electroclash to live concerts by local bands. Over the years, however, the focus has increasingly shifted to electronic music, making the Golden Gate an integral part of Berlin's techno scene.

Our tips for your visit to the Golden Gate

Thanks to its special opening hours, the Golden Gate is the perfect place for an after-hours session in the morning – when the sun rises outside, minimal music continues to play inside for hours.
To this day, the Golden Gate has resisted digitalisation: no card payments, no online marketing and hardly any social media are part of the club's philosophy.
The dress code is as relaxed as the door policy: instead of designer outfits, the Golden Gate focuses on the atmosphere.

Your visit to the Golden Gate

The Golden Gate is inconspicuously located under the city railway arches, just a few steps away from Jannowitzbrücke station. The best way to reach the club is by taking the U8 underground line or the S3, S5, S7 and S9 S-Bahn lines.
