Words Connect – "OSTGEBIETE / ZIEMIE ZACHODNIE. German-Polish Perspectives"

Photographers from Germany and Poland engage here in an artistic dialogue about memory, identity, and transformation. In September, they will delve even deeper into the visual narratives and explore themes such as home and loss of home, identity and memory, as well as new beginnings in a foreign land—also within the context of the permanent exhibition.

Through writing, they engage in a dialogue on German-Polish perspectives regarding a shared space of memory that continues to resonate to this day. With pen in hand, they seek not only to better understand the present but also to envision a shared future. They explore the exhibition, embarking on a German-Polish quest for clues and allowing history and stories to take root on paper.

Even today, war and the loss of one’s homeland are, unfortunately, still a reality for many people—they give space to their thoughts and hopes and use the creative power of writing to turn words into bridges.

The writing workshop invites anyone who enjoys experimenting with words and language. Participants offer ideas and are happy to draw inspiration from others. Writing together becomes a dialogue in which everyone can learn from one another and share with one another.

The writing workshop is held in German, English, and Polish; participants write in the language of their choice.
