In the middle of Pride Week, Berlin’s CSD and the Theater des Westens are jointly hosting Pride Night at the Theater des Westens for the first time on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

The event not only marks the halfway point of Pride Week but also kicks off a long-term partnership between two organizations that actively shape diversity, visibility, and social cohesion in Berlin.

The highlight of the evening will be the musical “Wir sind am Leben” (We Are Alive)—a production about self-determination, freedom, belonging, and the courage to forge one’s own path. These themes are closely tied to queer realities and take on special significance in times of social polarization. Together, the organizers aim to create a space where culture, community, and attitude converge.

In keeping with the motto of the 48th Berlin CSD—“Attitude Is Hot”—and the Theater des Westens’ Pride slogan, “Freedom Is the Most Beautiful City in the World,” Pride Night aims to show that queer visibility isn’t limited to demonstrations, but is equally present on stages, in cultural institutions, and throughout the city’s society. To mark the 48th Berlin CSD, visitors will receive a 48 percent discount on tickets at the Theater des Westens—not just for Pride Night, but throughout Pride Month Berlin. Following the musical, we’ll continue celebrating together at Pride Night—with a party that lasts well into the night.

This collaboration doesn’t end after just one evening: The Theater des Westens will also be a prominent part of the Berlin CSD program on July 25, bringing queer culture and musical theater directly to the community’s biggest stage with a performance on the main stage. Pride Night and the stage performance thus mark the beginning of a long-term collaborative partnership.

“Especially in light of the current social and political situation, we want to come together more closely as key players in this city. Diversity is increasingly under attack. As places where protest, culture, and queer life are a given, we want to take a stand together—for a cosmopolitan, diverse, and solidarity-driven city,” says Marcel Voges, board member of Berliner CSD e. V.

“Theater has always been a place for diversity, social debate, and powerful emotions. Many people from the queer community have been supporting us and our musicals for years as loyal guests. We are incredibly grateful for that. We are therefore particularly delighted that we are now transforming this special connection into a long-term partnership with Berliner CSD,” add Ulf Sommer and Peter Plate.
