Book launch by Vanessa Vu and Ahmad Katlesh

What remains when experiences of war, flight and asylum permeate your own life but you can hardly talk about them? Because you can't or don't want to remember, or because you don't have the language for it?

For over two years, the Syrian writer Ahmad Katlesh and the journalist Vanessa Vu wrote each other emails in order to understand the other - he in Arabic, she in German, with an artificial intelligence mediating in between.

Their stories are about internet cafés, ghosts and borders, about misunderstandings and what it means when politics repeatedly invades the private sphere.
