Jewish tango concert in the garden of the Liebermann Villa
In his tango program, Miguel Wolf searches for Jewish traces in Argentine tango. And he finds them: composers, lyricists, musicians, orchestra leaders, publishers, and radio presenters.
They came to Argentina from Eastern Europe, and tango opened doors to society for them. Not always, however, under their real names, because "if you want to sing tango, you'd better not be called Leon or Zucker."
Look forward to stories and tangos by Raúl Kaplún (Israel Kaflun), Chico Novarro (Bernardo Mitnik), and many others. In an intimate setting with just voice and guitar, Miguel Wolf takes you on a musical-biographical journey through the tango bars of Buenos Aires.
Miguel Wolf was born in Chile as the descendant of emigrated German Jews and has lived in Hamburg for over 35 years. He says of himself: "Tango – it is my illness and my medicine."
