Normally, people see words in books and texts; when they look at pictures, they focus on color, people, or objects. This exhibition, however, tries something new: it examines signs and symbols and interprets images. Artworks can be "read" to discover the hidden signs and symbols within them.
Art can reveal where people come from and how they are connected. The artist Shirin Neshat poses compelling questions such as: Who are you? How did you get here? In her photographic works, she combines powerful images with evocative texts. But how do we actually understand images? Why can they tell so much, even without words?
