SONO TOKUDA , JÉRÔME FRUCHART & YANNICK RAFALIMANANA
Four decades separate Clara Schumann's Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 17 (1846) and Johannes Brahms' Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor, Op. 101 (1886) – and yet their music seems to speak from a common source. Both composers were bound by a deep friendship and artistic affinity.
So it is hardly surprising that there is more than just stylistic affinity between the two trios. It is as if two souls who understood each other deeply were meeting here.
Violinist Sono Tokuda (Elbphilharmonie Hamburg) and cellist Jérôme Fruchart (Concertgebouw Amsterdam) share a long-standing musical friendship. Together with pianist Yannick Rafalimanana, they bring both works to the Hall of Mirrors.
