Since 1995, Carmen Bärwaldt has accompanied Charlotte von Mahlsdorf with her camera. The result is a personal and sensitive portrait of an extraordinary Berlin personality.
The 2018 film describes the rocky path of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf's life, which was marked by paternal violence in childhood, humiliation and exclusion, but also by affection, friendship and high recognition of her work in monument preservation. She remembers queer life in the GDR and her work as a collector of Wilhelminian-era furniture.
