With STOP OVER 4 – Perspectives, the Konzerthaus Berlin invites you to three extraordinary concert evenings from January 8th to 10th, 2026. For this fourth stopover, three renowned musicians – Ingrid Laubrock, Julia Hülsmann, and Christian Lillinger – will assume the artistic direction and present their very personal perspectives on jazz and improvisation.
Each evening begins with a short introductory talk in which the curators present their selection and motivations.
The opening concert on January 8th will be New York-based saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, known for her dense, experimental soundscapes, whose program builds transatlantic bridges between jazz, new music, and improvised music.
On January 9th, Berlin-based pianist Julia Hülsmann, a leading voice in the European jazz scene and professor at the UdK, will perform, deliberately opening up different perspectives and approaches to music with her evening program under the motto "Perspectives on a Genre."
The finale on January 10th will be presented by drummer, composer, and label founder Christian Lillinger, known for his research-based approach. With ensembles from various artistic contexts, he will demonstrate how diverse jazz and improvisation can be when artists are given maximum freedom.
Thus, STOP OVER 4 will become an intensive musical laboratory that provides insights into current trends and simultaneously paves the way for a future center for jazz and improvised music in Berlin.
