What began as a one-off effort has become a fixture on the international soul scene: In 2012, Paul Janeway and Jesse Phillips founded the band St. Paul & The Broken Bones in Birmingham, Alabama – originally intended as their "last project together." But it quickly became clear: Their powerful mix of classic late '60s soul, Southern gospel influences, and modern stage energy captures the spirit of the times.
Today, the eight-person ensemble represents a distinctive sound that reinterprets American Southern soul. Frontman Paul Janeway captivates audiences with his charismatic voice in churches and on major festival stages alike. What started as a coincidence has become a musical phenomenon that keeps the spirit of retro soul alive – passionate, dynamic, and captivating.
