Salon à la Achtet Alis - An Art Salon for Everyone

Inspired by the exhibition “Cassirer and the Breakthrough of Impressionism,” Achtet Alis, the youth council of the State Museums, welcomes you to its specially designed art salon. Everyone is welcome to join in this open-air event.

Paul Cassirer helped make Impressionism big in Germany in the early 20th century through his art salon. Reactions to the paintings were initially very mixed—some critics loved the “delightful mood pieces,” while others called them “unspeakably monotonous.”

This naturally raises the question: “Which works of art are the subject of controversy these days?”

And that’s where you come in: Stop by the Salon à la Achtet Alis in the arcade to the left of the Alte Nationalgalerie, share your own thoughts on old and new works of art, and explore the various styles of the artists who were exhibited at Cassirer’s.
