Open-Air Theater, Dance, and Music

From September 3 to 6, the 16th edition of the popular art and culture festival “Salon K” will take place in Reinickendorf’s Lettekiez neighborhood, drawing visitors with a diverse program on streets, in squares, and in parks.

To kick off the festival (Thu, Sept. 3), Sicilian musician Luca Burgio and his band will perform a concert featuring the best of Sinti-Dixi-Folk at the Showfenster Theater (Letteallee 94). Before that, creative minds of all ages can attend two art workshops on Letteplatz to create woolly creatures and try their hand at tape art.

At resiART (Residenzstr. 132) on Friday (Sept. 4), the closing event for the exhibition “Connected Worlds – The Language of Dots” by artist Alexandra Liese will feature a concert and a participatory activity. Afterward, the Kulturraum M5 (Markstr. 5) will host an entertaining musical reading featuring actor Sebastian Zett and musician Daniel Lindenblatt, exploring the history of the telephone.

On Schäfersee Day (Sat, Sept. 5), a varied program will take place on a meadow and along the lakeside path near the Haus am See from 3–7 p.m.: guided workshops will offer the chance to create dreamcatchers and stop-motion films; singer Merve Akyıldız will take you on a musical journey around the world; there will be a site-specific dance performance by the make a move collective; the Tur Tur Theater will present the play “The Love for the Three Oranges” for young and old alike, complete with humor and fog; and the six-piece band Waternig Eye will round out the day against the romantic lakeside backdrop with handmade folk, world, and pop music.

And to close out the festival, the ATZE Music Theater will present the children’s play “You Started It! No, You Did!” on Sunday (September 6) at Letteplatz.

Come by and let yourself be surprised!
