The Drag Summer Festival at the Berlin Botanical Garden is entering its second round.

It was probably the most surprising cultural highlight of late summer: “Queens & Flowers,” the first drag summer festival in Berlin's Botanical Garden, attracted around 2,000 enthusiastic visitors to Steglitz-Zehlendorf in Berlin's green southwest at the end of August.

Due to popular demand, the drag summer festival – organized by Place2be.Berlin, SIEGESSÄULE's LGBTIQ* tourism and event platform – is now entering its second round: Tickets can be purchased online and at the Botanical Garden ticket offices starting today.

In the listed grounds of the Botanical Garden, with its approximately 20,000 plant species from all regions of the world, drag art and plant diversity merge into a celebration of diversity and togetherness.

Last year, the event sold out quickly – from families with children to interested seniors to queer plants from Berlin's underground, it drew everyone out into the green for a day of entertainment and harmony.

Queens & Flowers is an inspiring example of how art, nature, and social diversity can work together and send a strong message,” explains Maren Schellenberg (Green Party), district mayor of Steglitz-Zehlendorf. "The Steglitz-Zehlendorf district office is very pleased that this colorful event is taking place in the district again this year. The event is a great opportunity for encounters, visibility, and cohesion."

“Protecting and preserving diversity is more important today than ever,” adds Thomas Borsch, director of the Berlin Botanical Garden. “This applies to plants as well as people. That's why we are delighted to be co-hosting the event again.”

On Saturday, August 23, the Botanical Garden will once again open its doors for the open-air event this summer:
The planned program promises a colorful variety for visitors of all ages from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.: From drag queen reading hours and hands-on activities for kids to botanical tours on various topics, DJs, concerts, comedy, and two spectacular drag shows on the main stage. In addition to several food trucks, Berlin's cult bar Hafen will also be there again, complementing the garden's beverage offerings with summery, sparkling cocktails, among other things.

A wide range of drag performers have announced their participation and will present their art in the open spaces around the Great Tropical House.
From Berlin's Blüten Kaey and Gisela Sommer, who will be the main hosts, to the spooky goddess Antina Christ, who will present international artists such as Lawunda Richardson, Christina Corpse, and Michele Clark, to the headliner show with the three “Drag Race Germany” contestants Tessa Testicle, Yvonne Nightstand, and Metamorkid.

  • Visitors can also look forward to a live concert by Marcella Rockefeller.
  • This year's Drag Queen Reading Hour for children will be hosted by Vivienne Lovecraft and Rachel Intervention. The latter will also be performing excerpts from her BKA theater comedy program on the main stage.
  • Ixa will be DJing.
  • The Botanical Garden guides will lead tours through the most popular greenhouses and talk about cacti, diversity in the world of plants, and tropical flowers.
And that's not all. There will be plenty of other highlights as well.

Advance ticket sales have started – tickets are available in the online shop and at the Botanical Garden ticket offices from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

To ensure that all guests have a relaxed experience and that the listed Botanical Garden remains as beautiful as it is, there are three admission slots with a limited number of tickets. Guests choose their desired admission time (the length of stay is unlimited). On the day of the event, there will be only a few (+remaining) tickets available at the Botanical Garden ticket office from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Online ticket sales will run until 8 p.m. at the latest.
