Four decades of rock history – and yet the PIXIES still sound as fresh and unpredictable as they did in the beginning. Founded in Boston in 1986, it all began with a simple newspaper ad from Charles Thompson (aka Black Francis) and Joey Santiago. With Kim Deal on bass and David Lovering on drums, a band was formed that soon changed the music world.

Only months passed from the first rehearsals to their debut album, Come On Pilgrim – and the PIXIES immediately sounded like something completely new: loud, surreal, aggressive, and yet full of catchy melodies. With albums like Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, they shaped an entire generation in the late 1980s and had a lasting influence on bands like Nirvana.

After their split in 1993, the story seemed to be over – until their comeback in 2004 ushered in a second, successful era for the band. Since then, the PIXIES have regularly released new albums and thrilled audiences on worldwide tours.

Live, the band remains a force to be reckoned with: uncompromising, energetic, and direct. No two shows are alike – yet each one is proof why the PIXIES are among the most important alternative rock bands of all time.

In 2026, they will celebrate their 40th anniversary with the "P40 – Celebrating 40 Years" tour. After concerts in the UK and across Europe, three dates in Germany have now been confirmed. This summer, the PIXIES will once again prove why, even after four decades, they remain one of the defining forces of the present.
